Abstract

Gourami is high commercial value aquarium fish. The effect of fermentedCoconut Cocosnucifera pulp was evaluated as feed supplement for Gourami Trichogaster sp. There are four treatments assigned according to differentexperimental diets that consist of two treatments from formulation of fish meal and rice bran as Fl and F2 diets while other two treatments from formulation of fermentedcoconut pulp, fish meal and rice bran as M1 and M2 diets. A digestibility study being conducted for 28 days, fish fed fish fed with the treatment of formulation fermented coconut pulp, fish meal and rice bran showed the highest weight gain and specific growth rate with no significant difference (p<0.05). The group of fish which average initial body weight (7.2 ± 0.3g) were fed with the treatments from feed formulation by using fermented coconut pulp, fish meal and rice bran. The test diets of 4 % body weight were fed to the fish twice a day for 28 days. Initial weight of Gourami, Trichogaster sp. showed the highest mean weight 7.8523 ± 0.460from treatment M2 diet while M1 showed the highest final mean weight 9.2265 ± 0.592 which both initial weight and final weight are no significant difference ( p<0.05) . The highest weight gain 0.0857 ± 0.022 from M1 treatments diets compared from others treatments. Apart from that, specific growth rate from M1 treatment diets showed the highest 9.1247 ± 2.216, 5.6167 ± 0.826, 2.5860 ± 1.621, 2.2508 ± 1.405 in M1, F1, F2 and M2 respectively. Survival rate of fish were not affected by the fermented coconut pulp, fish meal and also rice bran. From the results obtained it could be concluded that fermented coconut pulp suitable as extra diet and able to enhance the growth performance of Gourami, Trichogaster sp.
