A cat requires approximately 40 essentials nutrients with suitable amount and measurement for balanced complete nutrients. Balanced and complete nutrients in daily routine for the cat will result an excellent cat's health. Vitamins are one of the most important vital roles in a wide range of metabolic functions and the vitamin deficiencies can produce a range of clinical abnormalities. Recent experimental studies have shown that nutrition amount in each type of animal food is different and there are some destruction of critical nutrients because of the heat and pressure involved during product processing. The research was conducted to analyze the amount of vitamin B1 (Thiamin) presence in selected commercial cat food product using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). pH reading is identified as the physical parameter to support the data. The amount of vitamin B1 content in the product is then compared with the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) to identify whether the product meet up with the standard established by AAFCO. Wet and Dry types of cat food with 3 different brands (Premium, Normal Economy) each was used for the research. The experimental results shows that , wet cat food and premium quality of cat food have higher amount of vitamin B1 presence compared to dry cat food and economy quality of cat food. The result is then proceed with the comparison with AAFCO standard and shows that only Brand 1 and Brand 2 meet up with the standards.
