The present study is to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility of selected fifteen types antibiotic against Pseudomonas sp. and determine ornamental fish Multiple Antibiotic Resistance (MAR) index of Pseudomonas sp. isolated from guppy Poecilia reticulate. A total of 10 bacterial isolates of Pseudomonas sp. in guppy were successfully isolated in this study. Moreover, the results of the present study can provide valuable information to ornamental fish industry in Malaysia to evaluate the extent to which the bacteria related with ornamental fish have developed antimicrobial resistance. The percentage of resistance cases were 60.0% whereas intermediary sensitive and sensitive cases were 5.3% and 34.7%. The present bacterial isolates were found sensitive to doxycycline (100%), nalidixic acid (100%), flumequine (100%), fosfomycin (100%), chloramphenicol (60%) and florfenicol (60%). On the other hand, present bacterial isolates were resistant to amoxycilin (100%), ampicilin (100%), lincomycin (100%), sulphamethoxazole (100%), compound sulphonamides (100%), spiramycin (100%), erythromycin (80%), colistin sulphate (70%) and novobiocin (70%). The MAR index value of all isolates was 0.60, indicating that bacterial isolates from guppy may have received high risk exposure to the tested antibiotics.
