Abstract

The Gua Setir and Gua Maka area is located in the state of Kelantan, Peninsular Malaysia, about 92 km to the southwest Kota Bharu at coordinate 5°40135"N to 5°38115"N and 101°55135'1 to 101°58115".This project was carried out to explore the general geology, geological characteristic and mineral distribution of the area. Basically the mineral is found such as iron oxide, galena and gold cause of the previous research shown abundance of mineral. Geological mapping are shown the geological characteristic and also the structure have existed at the research area. This project focused mainly on the study of lithology, structural geology and correlation with past that were carried out in the surrounding area. The Gua Setir and Gua Maka area are comprises of limestone, interbedded shale, sandstone, and siltstone. The formation at the research area existed is Gua Musang formation and Telong formation. To determine the research on the area must use a few methods and the method is used XRF, thin section and AAS. The method of mapping is used to produce the geological map 1:25,000 and covered the all area. The 16 sample have taken at the field to analysis by the geochemistry methods and results are shown the variable of major elements and minor elements existed. From the XRF analysis the most element abundance in Sample 1, Sample 2, Sample 3, Sample 4 and Sample 5 are common minerals, because they are stable only in the presence of an abundant supply of the component elements. Rare elements occur as major constituent of rocks like Zr in this case the Sample 5 has the 607.4 ppm of Zr. The different of the abundance of the element also depend on the movement of surface water and the movement of the concentration.
