Abstract

Stevia rebaudiana Bert. is a herb that can provide many benefits to health. A study had been done at University Malaysia Kelantan laboratory, Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan. The study is about in vitro multiplication on Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Benzyl Amino Purine (BAP) on the growth of shoot. 5 level concentration of BAP: 1 mg/l, 2 mg/l, 3 mg/l, 4 mg/l and 5 mg/l were used. The results of the study showed that 5 mg/l of BAP was the best treatment for the shoot growth. However, 3 mg/l and 5 mg/l may produce leaves in the bud early (75%) compared to explants in concentrations of other supplements. In addition, the production of callus was very low and only grew in the concentration of 5 mg/l.
