Swietenia macrophylla and Musa acuminata gives a lot of benefit towards health. The finding in this research are phytochemical constituents, antioxidant activity and investigate the functional groups. The fruits were going an extraction process using soxhlet extraction method. Then, the extracts were used in the screened for phytochemical constituents and revealed the presence of tannin, saponin, alkaloid, flavonoid and steroids. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis of the fruit extracts led to the presence of functional groups which were primary aliphatic alcohols and aliphatic hydrocarbons. The fruit extracts also were tested against the stable DPPH (2,2-dipheny1-1-hydrazyl-hydrate) free radical for antioxidant activity. Ascorbic acid was a commonly used as antioxidants standard. Based on the result, the ethanolic extracts from Musa acuminata fruit gives a higher IC50 rather than Swietenia macrophylla and Ascorbic acid. From this study, it can be concluded that the Musa acuminata is effective in scanvenging free radicals and has the potential to be a powerful antioxidant.
